Founder, Executive Chocolatier & Heart Behind Mimi’s Chocolates
My journey began on a step stool, hands sticky with caramel, in the kitchen of my childhood home in Berkeley, California. I didn’t know it then, but that first sweet creation would plant the seed for something far greater — something sacred.
I’m a Bay Area native through and through — born in Berkeley, raised in San Ramon, and proud to be part of the first graduating class of Dougherty Valley High School. My roots are deep here, and so is my love for community, for flavor, and for the moments food can create. I earned my B.S. in Culinary Arts and Food Service Management from Johnson & Wales University, with a concentration in Baking and Pastry. From there, I worked in professional kitchens across the country, gaining experience, yes — but more importantly, gaining clarity on the kind of joy I wanted to give others.
Mimi’s Chocolates was born in 2016, first as a whisper — an online offering, a few caramel confections sold through Instagram, a table at a few pop-ups, and the San Ramon farmers market. What I had was vision, recipes, and heart. What I didn’t know then was how deeply people would connect to what I was building.
In 2018, my mother, Natalie, officially joined me as co-owner — her faith in me steady, her presence strong, even when no one was watching. And in 2022, we opened the doors to our very first storefront in Dublin, California — a dream made real with a lot of prayer, perseverance, and purpose.
Today, Mimi’s Chocolates is a dessert shop — but more than that, it’s a place where love is layered into every bite. Where caramel apples are wrapped with care, and every chocolate-dipped confection carries memory, intention, and a story. We specialize in handcrafted confections, rooted in tradition but elevated with detail, soul, and grace.
Here, you’re not just a customer. You’re part of something sweet, sacred, and personal.
You’ll feel it in the flavors. You’ll taste it in the textures.
And more than anything — I hope you feel it in the warmth we’ve built here.
Welcome to Mimi’s.
With all my heart,
Mia D. Jenkins
